Christianity and Catholicism use the whole bible, where as Judaism uses the first five books. The first five books of the bible are called the Torah in Judaism. Overall the bible is broken down into the old testament and the new testament. The old testament explains creation, the fall of humanity and life post fall. The new testament or the gospels, explain the redemption story of Jesus, and can be considered life post fall and resurrections of Jesus Christ.
There are 66 books in the bible, and a few are written by the same author while others are not. Each book has it’s own meaning or purpose behind the stories that are told. The bible takes place over the span of 1,500 years.
